In order to filter out IP addresses, you need to search the log file with the grep command, which uses regular expression syntax to find the IP addresses. Once you find the IP addresses, you can pipe the output of grep through uniq to get counts for each one. In the following example, two IP addresses were found to appear 42 times and 16 times, respectively.
DHCP server

Uniq command-line tool
The Uniq command-line tool is a command line tool that can be used to filter IP address log files. It does this by isolating unique strings from standard input. Several options are available, including suppression of duplicate lines and a -c switch that counts the number of times an entry appears in a particular position. The tool is particularly useful for parsing large log files.
